Adultification

Adultification is when groups of minority children are treated as more mature than lighter skinned children. it stems from a racial bias and negative stereotype of minority groups. This view is usually projected onto young African American girls, people thinking they don't need as much comfort, security, and love as white or lighter skinned children, and that African American girls know more about adult topics, are more mature, and know more about sex.

Adultification is seen heavily in media, African American girls and women being seen as more sassy, mature, aggressive, and/or provocative, this can also be (sadly) applied to other minority groups.
Chloe from Hey Arnold! Is an example of adultification. She uses someone just to get closer to her crush and takes advantage of the person because he has a crush on her. Along with that, she also dresses like she's 15-19. Despite all this, she is only 13 years old.

Adultism

A term that lazy parents use to describe people who "discriminate" against their rude and loud children. Some parents believe that their children should be allowed to do whatever they want, because kids will be kids. This philosophy requires the belief that children can do no wrong because they don't know better, the parent isn't responsible for teaching them any better, and everyone else has to put up with it.
Any adult who protests because a strange child screamed through their entire dinner in a restaurant or cried through an entire R-rated movie at a theater is a child hating adultist.
OR
An elderly lady is in line at the post office. A ten year old hits her repeatedly in the leg with a nerf bat. The parent does nothing. The elderly woman asks the child to please stop. The parent screams at the lady for being rude to her child and accuses her of adultism.
OR
A child runs behind the counter at a coffee shop, trips the employees, and knocks over hot drinks and glass cups. The shop owner asks the parent to keep her child from behind the counter. The mother accuses the establishment of discrimination against her child (adultism).

adultification

A complaint to remember when someone says don't treat them like a kid, they don't like being treated like a kid.
He/she whined about adultification, or being treated as more adult than others, so deep down he/she must prefer to get treated like a kid, which is fine.

adultism

Noun. A disease that causes otherwise fun people to start acting like adults. This means they no longer go out and drink until they black out, stop having casual sex, and stop buying shoes and purses. There is no cure for Adultism.
Sally used to be so much fun, what happened?
She caught Adultism.
OMG, no wonder she's so boring!

Adultizer

A youth who pursues much older people sexually and romantically but only to play around with them with no real intention to take the relationship seriously.
At 14 she had dated a lot of men over twice her age and broken a few hearts. No one could deny she was a proper adultizer but oddly the men weren't mad at her for that.

adultification

Adultification is a term used in psychology and sociology to describe the manner in which some children are treated by adults as being more mature than they actually are—such as when they are expected to take on age-inappropriate adult roles and responsibilities as children, and when they are taken to be as culpable as adults for any crime or wrongdoing.
In the United States, adultification is often used to refer to a form of racial bias, whereby black American children are assumed to be more culpable, and punished more harshly than white children, for the same offences done at the same age.
