She went to Berklee, where she released her first EP, "Ratsliveonnoevilstar." She dropped out three years later and soon after joined the Polyphonic Spree. After being with the Spree for two years, she left and joined Sufjan Stevens' touring band. While touring with Sufjan, she released her second EP, "Paris is Burning."
