the position has been filled

decl. Innuendo given to a job applicant that s/he is under-qualified and will not be hired, despite the fact that nobody else before the applicant had by then previously chosen for the position.
It's amazing how I've sent my resume to several different startups and other larger companies -- And they all tell me that the position has been filled ... even with the job posting still kept up!!

the postal service

a band that sounds alot like death cab for cutie because the singer happens to be Ben Gibbard.

the band also consists of producer Jimmy Tamborello of Dntel, and a few other bands (headset and figurine). the group formed after ben set vocals to a song on one of Dntel's albums.

the postal service succeeds in creating a unique sound mostly upbeat and poppy.
the postal service. you'll probably like them if you like cheery music. or something like that.

the postal service

the greatest band ever
started by Ben Gibbard (( the lead singer for Death Cab For cutie) A man named Jimmy Tamborello heard the lashing of Los Angeles in a great song of the album "the photo album" and asksed Gibbard to lay down some vocals for his up and coming album. after this was released , the relationship was established
Gibbard started receiving CD-Rs from Tamborello filled with beatsy electronic music, which he manipulated in his computer before writing melodies and lyrics and recording vocals. He also added some guitar, drums and keyboards - much of which was recorded by Death Cab guitarist Chris Walla at his Hall of Justice studio - and then sent the demo back to L.A. Gibbard had to run his changes past Tamborello.

though it's tempting to call it an "'80s-sounding" record because of its keyboard-driven pop sensibilities, there's nothing retro about Give Up

On the other hand, fans of Death Cab will hear faint echoes of Gibbard's main band in The Postal Service, but overall it's a completely different experience.
if you like the postal service try , Death Cab For Cutie, Moto:rosa, augustana, or tegan and sarah

The Postal Service

A very good band with great lyrics and a soothing sound that I love but will probably soon be ripped away from me by Mtv and teeny-boppers.

The position will remain open until it is filled

Once you have had a successful job interview with a university (or other state agency) and all of your references have been contacted, if you don't get a response about the job, the usual protocol is to phone and find out what's going on. When you hear "The position will remain open until it is filled," it means that there is a hiring freeze that no one is talking about.
"You gave a wonderful interview, and we could really see you teaching with us here at (insert university name here). Though you and the other professor were in fact short-listed for the only two positions you both interviewed for (meaning, one position was going to you and the other, to her), 'the position will remain open until it is filled.'" Translation: "We don't have any money or budget to hire ANYONE but we must keep up the pretense that there is work available, or else our potential student population will decrease as a result of a lack-of-confidence in our ability to attack quality instructors. In fact, our mandate is to weed-out tenure-track professors and replace their $100,000 positions with 3 Master's-level students who we plan to pay less than $33,000 to, each. But please keep calling so we can tell you that the position will remain open until it is filled. Have a nice day."
