Get the shruggy mug.a specific bass guitar tone found in rock music that usually is created by using split signals, or double tracking. it encapsulates both a full low end sound with nothing but low-end frequencies coming through, as well as a dirtier, almost distorted type sound with some string noise as well combined to make the overall sonic effect.
Dissatisfied with how the bass sounds on their recording, the band went back to the engineer asking to re-track the bass guitar parts and make it sound Sprungy like they originally asked for, since they aren't a jazz group.
