A nice way of calling someone a shitbag, i.e. not being squared away or being disgusting.

Hey shitmate! Fix your cover, that ain't your grandad's ball cap.

Shitmate go hygiene, you smell like ass.

When two or more coworkers experience horrid work conditions, esp. Navy. Replaces "shipmate" with "shitmate."
