shipper angst

Contrived and torturously convoluted writing of a TV show’s characters’ relationships, done simply for the sake of interjecting more ‘drama’ into the series.

Shipper angst typically includes elements of lose, conflict, jealousy, and both real and perceived infidelities, that adversely affect and influence the thoughts and actions the show’s characters. While these elements are standard ingredients of good drama, their overuse is unmistakable evidence of the kind of hack writing that reduces TV series drama to mere melodrama.
I stopped watching ‘Battlestar Galacticain the middle of the third season. I just couldn’t stand watching any more of that silly shipper angst.

shipper goggles

When you watch a TV show or read a book or watch a movie in which you ship two characters, and see their "moments" everywhere, whether they're together in canon or not.
The pilot of Merlin practically comes with Merthur shipper goggles.

I was reading the 6th Harry Potter book and my Drarry shipper goggles were on.

Whenever I watch Glee, I see Faberry through my shipper goggles.
