Packet loss

A packet is a piece of data that is sent or received. For example, pressing the jump button in a game sends a packet of data to the server to perform the jump.

Packet loss is when those packets of information or data do not reach their destination, therefore being lost. Like when you press the jump button, and nothing happens, because the packet of data needed to jump was lost along its journey to the server.

Damn dude, my game has so much packet loss. I lost 2 games because of it!

Packet Rat

A total Bad-Ass. The word is originally a nautical term for tough Irish men who sailed the north Atlantic. They were the best drinkers and singers. Not interested in anything fancy, they were talented sailors, and hardcore dudes.

In modern use, a Packet Rat doesn't need to have a direct connection to the sea, or a connection to Ireland, they would just be an immensely hardcore fellow.
