Last Resort Friend

The friend you call as a last resort when all your other friends are busy. You don't really like this friend and are prone to cancel on them if you get a better offer. You may be this friend to someone else.

Scenario 1
Bob: Hey are you free this weekend?
Friend: Sorry I'm not, got some family function I can't get out of.

Bob: Damn it everyone's busy, Guess I'll have to call my last resort friend.

Scenario 2
Tim: Hi Dan's just cancelled on me. Are you free tomorrow?
LRF: You only ever call me when everyone else is busy, I'm sick of being your last resort friend!

last digit syndrome

the fear or reluctance of dialing the last digit of a phone number; seen most commonly among guys who get the number of a girl they like and want to ask out, but then fail to muster up enough courage to complete the call, usually stopping before punching in the very last key of the number.

Dude #1: "Denise gave Adam her home phone number, and he was so stoked about it he said he would give her a call last night. But I guess he must be suffering from last digit syndrome, since all he kept dialing was "555-236...and it stopped there every time!"

Dude #2: "Ha! well hopefully he'll grow a set by tonight and try again....hotties like Denise don't stay single for very long, ya know!"

The feeling of nostalgia and sadness when you see your friend was online 7 years ago. Sometimes you wonder what happened on that day they went offline. Did they die? Did they lose their console and got a new one but forgot you? Did they just stop playing games? Sometimes we may never know. But all we can hope is that they are okay and living well.

Friend: Oh yeah I gotta go to bed now, I'll play with you again tomorrow.
Me: Ok gn dude I gotta finish homework so yeah
*7 years later, finds old console that I used to play on*
*Plugs console in*
*Checks friends list to see if your friend still plays*

Last Word Syndrome

A compelling need to be the last person to speak during an argument or conversation; finishing an argument with a response of immaturity typically consisting of either repeating the last thing you said over and over until the other person stops talking, making whiny/baby noises, or childish name-calling.

Person 1: You're such a tool.

Person 2: I'm not a tool. I work because I have goals for myself and I don't mind working hard to achieve them.

Person 1: You're a tool.

Person 2: You just said that.

Person 1: You're a tool.

Person 2: Think you've got some last word syndrome, buddy, later.

Person 1: *Shouting after you* Whaa, why don't you cry about it?

This is a state where she has made up her mind and she IS leaving you. She's actually giving you one more last public performance to show your craziness. This will undeniably prove to everybody you know mutually that she is 101% justified for leaving you.

So I heard Theresa's taking you back at the last chance ranch, I really hope that you don't fuck it up for yourself . That would be a damn shame, I mean she is the prettiest girl that you're ever going to get...

last stand

A battle that is considered the final defense of what is left of a military group, against an overwhelming opposition (example: 500 defenders vs. 2000 attackers). Here, the defending force will unleash all of their strength, motivated by a fighting spirit.

Usually this results in either the annihilation of the defending force, or in rare cases, the retreat of the attacking force, depending on the circumstances (example: Out of supplies, or have received heavy casualties).

Whilst in a last stand, the defending force has an opportunity to surrender, but that could also lead to their deaths. This however is really a moral question on if they should surrender or not, because the defending force really has nowhere else to retreat to should they be defeated. Mostly, the concept of a last stand is to ultimately 'go down fighting'.
