friend bucket

When a man can't make up his mind and misses his window of opportunity with a woman, the woman mentally places him in her "friend bucket". Once relegated to this category, he may never be able to get back to being considered "boyfriend bucket" material.

Sam and Alma met on the train, and seemed to have chemistry together, but after 3 weeks of waiting for Sam to make his move, Alma decided to move on. Sam got dumped into the 'friend bucket' and he has no chance of regaining "boyfriend bucket" status.

friend by association

A person who is your friend, but only because he is one of your friend's friends. It doesn't really matter how much you like him, or how often you converse, he is still your friend by association. But he can only be a friend by association if you have met him, (and not just heard about him) and talked to him.

Erik is Chris's friend. Josh is Erik's friend. Erik introduced him to Chris. Chris greeted him. Josh is now Chris's friend by association, and vice versa.

friend binge

When one joins facebook, they feel compelled to add any person that they might know, resulting in cases with 20 or 30+ friends showing up in their "recent activity". This is common throughout the first few weeks of joining and usually slows down when around 200 friends accept.

"Dude, you got over 100 friends in a day, what the hell happened?" "I guess I was on a bit of a friend binge."

Friend Blindness

When you've become deep enough friends with someone, that you become unaware of their flaws and imperfections. Someone with friend blindness would stand up for their ugly friends, telling everyone how hot he/she is.

When you think your friend is a 9, and everyone else thinks he/she is a 6.

Terrie: "I remember when I met Alexis, I thought she was so average. But after knowing her for awhile now, she has really become quite beautiful."

Chris: "She looks the same as when you met her. You suffer from Friend Blindness."
