The Star Wars Expanded Universe refers to the large collection of Star Wars tie-in material such as Books, Comics, Roleplaying games, Video games that have discontinued their run in 2014. It also spawned many groups that consistently threaten to spoil and ruin the fun of any new forthcoming media most notably movies such as The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

This includes books, comics and video games used for the ultimate purpose of a cash-grab. While it had some decent stuff like Knights of the Old Republic, it had just too many wildly inconsistent ridiculous stories which destroy anything the Original Trilogy accomplishes such as Palpatine surviving Return of the Jedi and Luke Skywalker turning to the Dark Side. It was an ultimately a good decision Lucasfilm ultimately declared a collective retcon toward this even though this sadly resulted in groups aiming to ruin subsequent Star Wars enjoyment by spoiling The Force Awakens and Rogue One through "Comment Raids".
