in portuguese, it also means the same as the english word "pimp". it is the noun given to a person that does nothing for a living apart from collecting his "employees"'s (usu. female) money and sometimes beating them when the "collect" is not the desirable one. it can also be used to describe someone who is always begging for money to someone else.

In mexican slang, its a word for a 'home boy." They usually wear a wife beater, docks, baggy pants that go just above the ankle, shaved head, and usally mexican or resembling mexican characteristics.
They usually use terms like "qu pasa esa." or how every you spell it. Its equivialent to "whats up dude."

A person who walks with his hands in his pockets and does the Nickel pimp walk (tm). To be a chulo, one must work a rodeo and sell tickets to the eiffel tower he has daily in his house. The word literally means "pimp" in Spanish or colloquially "cool," "bad-ass," or "bad guy." If anyone knows "The Nickel," this definition describes him perfectly.
