A phrase used when a person without the necessary means comes into possession of an expensive or rare item. The "acquired" is usually drawn out to denote the metaphorical use of the word.

The opposite of an acquired taste. Someone you really like when you first meet them, but as you spend more time with them, your dislike for them grows.
Gary: "I really liked Dan when I first met him. Then I started to be around him more. Now I think he is an idiot and I can't stand to be around him"
Giselle: ''Yeah, he is an acquired dislike. That is why he has to change jobs so often"
