Jumping The Dog

A slang idiom meaning to unintentionally or recklessly cause someone’s death; manslaughter. Often used in casual conversation as a figurative or euphemistic way to describe a fatal accident or negligent killing.
Example 1:
"I can’t believe what happened last night… the guy totally jumped the dog, and now he’s in serious trouble."

Example 2:
"They’re saying it was an accident, but it still counts as jumping the dog. Tragic."

Example 3:
"Man, I heard about that fight… someone really jumped the dog over there. Crazy."

Jump Line (T)

The highest point of a jump, as recorded in traditional quadrobics— to measure how high the jump was. The jump line lies under the waist at midpoint. Jumps are measured at what height the person could theoretically jump over if their jump form allowed the hurdle to pass under the waist.
