Like the skin of a snake I'll shed a full layer of those vapid thoughts over time. So of these thoughts were adopted from or imposed by the zeitgeist and others I generated myself. But I'm not NOT my thoughts. To the extent that my thoughts are derived from the external world I am that which resonates with *eternally derived thought X*. Sam Harris' self does not resonate with 'Thought X' and THIS ONE does. And in doing so, MY self and Sam Harris' self are distinct. Additionally, I am that which generated thought X.
