Short eyes

Old school prison slang for a child molester. Term entered the public lexicon in the late 1970s when Miguel Piñero adapted his play Short Eyes into a movie with the same title that became a cult classic and had a popular soundtrack album performed by Curtis Mayfield, including the hit single Do Do Wap Is Strong In Here. The movie is about a pedophile, or "short eyes", who gets tortured and ultimately killed by his fellow inmates after they find out what he's in jail for.

However, the term is rarely used these days. More common current terms for child molesters in prison are chomo and skinner.

Short-Sleeved Genius

A Short-Sleeved Genius is a person, usually a male, who abuses their minor managerial role within a business setting. This person utilizes their limited power to assert complete authority or assumed knowledge in an aggressive manner. Think a psycho Pep Boys manager or Dwight from The Office. While anyone wearing short sleeves and a tie is a potential Short-Sleeved Genius, it is not a mandatory dress code.

I was at the DMV getting my license renewed when some Short-Sleeved Genius told me I was in the wrong line. He threatened to "write me up" if I didn't change lines. WTF, I don't even work there!

Short story long

Something that could have been told in a more concise way but is dragged out because the teller doesn't know how to tell a story. It's a play on the annoying clarifier, "Long story short," people use to sum up a digression, which really never seems to be that short anyway. So instead you say the opposite.

So I was walking into the store the other day, I wanted to get some aspirin because I had this massive headache and I walked down aisle four but they only had Tylenol but that doesn't work and I went to the counter and short story long this guy was holding up the store!
