Nostalgia

Nostalgia is a VERY bittersweet feeling. You feel nostalgic when you do something or remember something that you grew up with, or something that is just from the past. It is a feeling that sorta makes you wanna cry but it also makes you feel really happy. But it can also make you feel anxious or sick to your stomach.

Andrew: Wow man, I visited the site “casual collective”. It gave me nostalgia.
Luke: yeah, I bet. That site was lit. Did you play the game “minions”?
Andrew: yeah! Wow. I’m very nostalgic Right now.

The feeling of a positive remembrance of an event that has occurred after Covid-19.

The only reason I have nostalgia of recency is because lockdown was so peaceful compared to today.

Destructive nostalgia

Excessive amount of nostalgia and grieving for the past to the point where present and the future becomes irrelevant for the person. This can be mostly caused by lack of happiness in the present and depression. The name destructive comes from the fact it causes destruction of the future due to being demotivated to do anything for it.

Patient: "The present and future has nothing for me, the brightness of my lost past is corroding my mind."
Therapist: "That sounds like destructive nostalgia."

Blinded by Nostalgia

Blinded by nostalgia is typically a term referring to a player in a video game who knows that they enjoyed a certain newer update of a game, but act as if an older update of the game was better, because it was more "nostalgic", even though the update didn't bring really good stuff.

"Season 3 was better than Chapter 2 Season 2"
"You are blinded by nostalgia"
