Portmanteau of ‘aside’ and ‘snide’, describing a short rejoinder meant—often successfully—to be particularly cutting. Coined to describe a New York Times reporter reacting to comments criticizing him for platforming someone who posted CSAM with flippant remarks.

Asifonyu

Mexican internet / queer slang from Wendy Guevara and Paola Suárez (“Las Perdidas”). It comes from Paola jokingly saying “así for you” / “as for you” in Spanglish and pronouncing it as “asifonyu.”

The word has no fixed dictionary meaning; it’s a meme filler you drop where everyone can guess the real word from context. Depending on how you use it, asifonyu can mean:

• “that’s how it is for you / tough luck”
• a crush, hookup or situationship (“mi asifonyu”)
• being wrecked, drunk or out of it (“quedé bien asifonyu”)
• a cheeky way to say booty/privates (“mueve el asifonyu”)
