Noun (slang) A name for people of african descent and/or of the negro race who are citizens of the United States. Sometimes generally applied to any dark skinned person living in america. Not common in current use, it has been replaced with african american, for no appearent reason other than the two following; Possibly to distance the speaker or the referents from the late 1960s/early 1970s era when the term was in very common and popular use, or to make it harder to spell, to pronounce, and to use more characters in written material.

Of the socially acceptable and non slur terms used for people of the negro race in the 20th century like colored, of color, afro american, black, minority, or african american, my personal favorite is afro american.

A small group of islands in the Pacific aquired by American in a pact with Germany. No one really knows exactly where it is, who lives there, what language the locals origanlly spoke before we showed up or that the capital is Pago Pago. The only time anyone pays attention to it is when some one is doing a special on sweat shops because apparently that's what drives it's economy.
