Unfortuantely this is a word that has been co-opted by females to insult and punish men who they deem to be unattractive for "daring" to have the nerve to talk to them or approach them. Basically today's definition of "creepy" is anything an unattractive man says, thinks or does. For many women it's not enough to reject a guy - they need to punish him and humiliate him for being too short, too bald or too ugly by attacking his character like this.

They could have one of these traits or all three. The name is applied to these individuals who creep and stare at young adolescent boys and girls as well as high school and college aged females and males. In a female's point of view, we are freaked out by these guys and find it scary that someone as old as our fathers and/or grandfathers are sexually attracted to us. Other than that, we make fun of them for thinking they have a chance with us young-ins.
Normal 17 year old girl walks by a group of creepy old men and they creepily stare at her and have lusting eyes. 17 year old girl is creeped out by this and runs away.

Typically there is very little creativity and much recycled, cliché film-making techniques. An example is how every somewhat frightening or suspenseful scene is ruined by obnoxious orchestral cues intended to add to the tension, but ironically just serve to defuse it. Such an effect really only seems to act as a moral narrative or guidance and bracket the semi-interesting parts in these films so the audience can't take the film too seriously.
The commercial formula usually consists of a 90-minute run-time, rated PG-13, sprinkled with just enough names to draw in and slightly frighten (hence "horror-lite") its core, money-making crowd: white, American suburbanite teenyboppers on dates.
Needless to say, these films should be avoided. They offer little to no entertainment and insult the horror genre. Any producers associated with these films should be ashamed of themselves for funding such unimaginative trash.
