A term originating from the adult film industry. The term is intended to differentiate between an older woman who has sexual relations with younger men who are not mothers from those who do have children, aka M.I.L.F.s. To put it simply, the terms are not interchangeable, an older woman can be one or the other, but not both. In other words, a woman of the appropriate age can either be a Cougar or a MILF, being she either is, or is not, a mom.
Mr. Jone's wife is such a cougar! I'd love to give her some kids and make her a MILF!

A woman aged 40 and up, single or married, who may appear to be younger then she actually is. They enjoys the sexual company of younger men. They are more willing than younger women to have casual sex or one-night stands due to their fertility decline and the approach of menopause. Hunting grounds are any social event where younger males are present. They require constant compliments and flattery due to low self esteem. Not wanting to grow up, they struggle with a constant mental battle; they keep denying the inevitable fade of there beauty due to aging rather than accepting it as a natural state of being. With the physically fight against aging they use vitamins, supplementation products, anti-aging products, cosmetics, and going to the gym. The art of illusion is also a tool they use; attractive or revealing clothing, form altering clothing, and they use a general sense of fashion. In general, this constant shallow focus on outer beauty has left the cougars inner beauty damaged, weak, or nonexistent.
I fucked a cougar last night.

Older woman, generally mid-30's or above, who attempts to sleep with younger men. Cougars are generally skanky and promiscuous, and therefore likely to have STD's. Their predation is generally due to their inability to secure a permanent relationship with a man their own age (or older), and generally reflects a form of desperation, premised on the usually vain hope that the horny, indiscriminate nature of the younger male will lead to at least temporary companionship. Known for animal prints, heavy makeup, emaciation and/or obesity, and a deluded view of self.

Not to be confused with a MILF, who is an attractive, genuine, healthy, well-preserved older woman over 30 (or 40) who younger men genuinely want to be with. The key difference is that the cougar pursues younger men, generally unsuccessfully, while the MILF is actively desired by men of all ages, but is more likely to already be in a committed relationship, due to her appeal.
That drunk cougar has been all over me all night, and won't leave me alone. Wish that MILF or her hot daughter would step in and run interference for me.

The cougar is a rare breed of female homosapien. It's natural habitats include night clubs that were cool three years ago and the hotel bar inside the Marriott.

The cougar (Puma concolor), also commonly known as the mountain lion, puma, or catamount, is a large felid of the subfamily Felinae native to the Americas. Its range, from the Canadian Yukon to the southern Andes of South America, is the greatest of any large wild terrestrial mammal in the Western Hemisphere. An adaptable, generalist species, the cougar is found in most American habitat types. It is the second heaviest cat in the New World, after the jaguar. Secretive and largely solitary by nature, the cougar is properly considered both nocturnal and crepuscular, although sightings during daylight hours do occur. The cougar is more closely related to smaller felines, including the domestic cat (subfamily Felinae), than to any subspecies of lion (subfamily Pantherinae), of which only the jaguar is native to the Western Hemisphere.
