A.K.A. Slashdotting, Slashdotted, etc.

Refers to the effect a Slashdot post has on a website. Because of slashdot's gigantic audience, any link placed there quickly goes down; very few sites can handle such huge traffic coming to their site.

Though the slashdot effect is similar to a denial of service, most webmasters don't mind the huge publicity and traffic to their site.

To this day, he still has a spatula instead of his hand. There are a few signs to see when he is coming. The lights will flicker on and off. The phone will ring, and there will be nobody there. As a noun: A website that posts news for geeks and similar types.

My site got slashdotted because a download I hosted was in very high demand.

Slashdot.com just posted an article about the new Geforce 6800 series.
