when your life is in species and you do everything in your power to fix it but since you destroyed your life so bad its impossible for you to get things right trying your best to the point where your fucking emotionless and nothing you do rather good or bad doesn't even matter anymore and the reward you get is nothing but more pain

Giving up

There's a difference between recognizing unrealistic expectations by an employer or government (trying to do physical work and breathe through a mask at the same time, for example) and saying go fuck yourself to the folks making the mandates and their wildfire/changes, and giving up on finding a job or living life. Most people below retirement age really do want to work, they also know what the realities of it are.

Not working at times when a government threatens to shut everything down on a regular basis and keeps people from finding a working/living rhythm isn't the same thing as refusing to work/live, or giving up on work/life entirely.
