A city in North East Ohio, suburb of Cleveland. If you are young enough to be on this website, and have enough time to search for this definition, you probity are aware of how little there is to do. Right now I am bored as shit, which is why I am typing this definition. There is a small skate park and a movie theater, but that’s about it. There is a shopping mall called the ‘Aurora Outlets’, but most of the items sold there are targeted at elderly ladies and the excessively rich. There is a mix of classes in Aurora, with both very rich and very poor. This has lead to a drug ‘problem’ in the High School, with tensions peaking during the 2008-2009 school year with Police Lockdowns and an incident involving a handgun at the school. In 2008 the local football team won the state championship, which seemed like the greatest thing to ever happen in the city, ever. (<- not really) It is also home to a fairly small and under stocked library. It has neither recreation centre nor any other form of entertainment (Other than the aforementioned skate park and movie theater). I used to have a large-ish theme park, called Geauga Lake/Sea World; however it recently became Six Flags. Even more recently it was purchased by Cedar Fair (Owners of the famous Cedar Point) and closed forever (). Aurora is often referred to as a great place to retire, with a total of 4 retirement centers. The city has two Boy Scout troops (265 and 269), two 4-H clubs (Creatures and features and Trail Blazers). It even has two subway restaurants. One final note to all of you young people: Don’t beat me up for writing this.

1) In scientific terms, it is cause by ions within the atmosphere getting excited from the energy released by the sun. During the state of excitement, the ions release those energy in order to stabilize themselves. Those energy bear different colors, which depends on the composition of the ions. (i.e. oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, etc.)
2) In common terms, pretty lights in the sky that can only be seen at the northern regions of the globe.

All we care about is drama and facebook/twitter. Weed is also a huge factor here at the great AHS. Walk up to anyone in the halls and 90% of the time there gonna have weed in their backpack. Basically, if you're on the football team you walk around and think your shit doesnt stink. There's never any wondering if your a nerd or not...just look at your friends. And yes your closet consists of American Eagle, Aeropostale, and Abercrombie. You know you go to aurora when you think your popular when 15 people like your TBH status on facebook. We specialize in creating fake and two faced people. We actually have double the enrollment because everyone here has two personalities. Make sure you get to know both of them before inviting them to your homecoming group. The climate in the school is wonderful. Whenever its cold outside its freezing in the building, and in the summer we decide to turn the heat on! Welcome to AHS :)

Get the aurora high school mug.Joseph McCarty, a pioneer from NY, came west seeking a new home. In the Fox Valley, he built a campfire in April 1834 on the island, which is now the site of downtown Aurora. He thought that the location was an ideal place for a new community & told his brother. It wasn’t long before Samuel arrived, family was sent for & a permanent settlement was taking roots. The settlement was named McCarty mills for the brothers’ grist mill & sawmill. In 1837, when a PO was est., the village became Aurora, goddess of the dawn. The city was the 1st in the United States to use electric lights for publicly lighting the entire city, it achieved the nickname of “City of Lights”.
The camp of 1834 has grown into a city. With a population of 198K according to the 2010 census, the city has steadily grown throughout the years to become the 2nd largest city in IL.
The city is accessible on 5 exits on Interstate 88. Corporate offices & commercial growth on the cities east & west sides continue to expand the city’s boundaries, now stretching from IL 59 on the east to portions beyond Orchard Rd on the west. The Far East Side of the city includes Fox Valley Mall, residential areas & is projected to house 60,000 people within the next 20 years. The city extends into 4 counties, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, & Will. There are 6 school districts & 7 townships covered within the city limits. There are 4 historic districts & a large number of individual landmark designations for many of the city’s buildings.

Yo man did you know that the movie Wayne's World was film in Aurora Illinois? Naw man. They claim that but the streets are actually in Naperville. Close to the city line though.
