lawn fete

Outdoor feast or party, particularly with entertainment. Often includes food and games. Used for church, school and other institutional fundraising. Sometimes has dunk tanks, fishing ponds for prizes, ring the bottle and knock over the bowling pin games. Often includes a raffle at the end of the night, where many winners donate the proceeds back to the sponsoring organization. There is usually good food and a potluck, and a much good natured cooking competition. In the country, this may be a courting opportunity for young people coming of age, under the watchful eye of adults.

Lawn Jockey

A term used in talking about a black person. Most of those little ceramic staues placed in yards have their faces painted black and they look like jockey's (guys that ride horses for a living). Hence the term lawn jockey's.

Look at all those lawn jockey's heading into KFC.

there's ninjas on the lawn

Its a less racial way of saying there are black people somewhere on your property. We say it when blacks show up at our haunted house. The blacks are usualy the ones that hit our monsters and get all kung foo on that ass when they get scared. So when they show up, a call goes out over the radio that "there's ninjas on the lawn"
I have also used it when there are black ppl around my store. Like when they hang out in the parking lot doing nothing.

I saw a group of black people headed for the entrance to our haunted house, so I alerted the managers that there's ninjas on the lawn.
