At least you know he's not trying to play up to your ego with what he's saying to you, he's telling you what he really thinks of you. Even if he's doing something right, you know you're not fucking up. So if you haven't left your humility behind, nobody needs to make sure you're in line with their agenda or plan.
Sometimes it's good to bask in what someone else did right, even if they got too big for you and they think you're slow or stupid now.

Desk Receptionist: "Good afternoon. How may I help you?"
