Hang it up

To tell someone to stop, let something go, or abandon an idea, take, or topic that clearly isn’t working. Often used dismissively or humorously to imply that the person is out of touch, being repetitive, or should move on.

Shoot and Hang

To shoot and hang yourself is a humorous reference to suicide, made by the absurd nature of killing yourself in two ways at once. Can also be used as a threat of murder (shooting) followed by a cover-up of suicide (hanging). Also humourous, because it would very clearly not be suicide.

"I'll never give you my LED kitty headphones! You can pry them out of my cold, dead hands."
"That's what I *will* do after I shoot and hang you!"
