EMS Goths

A group of Goths who talk to eachother on the the Neopets 'Evil Things and Monster Sightings'(EMS) board.

They are, pretty much, the coolest group of people on Neopets(as if that was saying much). A few are somewhat elitist, having a habit of jumping all over everyone who makes "goth" boards to make sure they know exactly what they are talking about. However, the people in this group are generally very nice and accepting. Many are simply tired of the false representation of "Goth" that is so popular today(part of this group being younger people who have to put up with it a lot).

The 'EMS Goths' usually start boards to discuss music(mainly Goth Rock, Deathrock, or Post-Punk. But, there are also some people who are more into other stuff, such as Industrial and New Wave), or sometimes just to chat with people they know about whatever.

The people within this group have changed through the years. There are always new people coming into the group, and there are a lot of old members of the group who don't come on much anymore. A few people who are associated with the EMS Goth group are Casey, Lex, Zrcalo, Vanity, Herr, Anne, and Rae.

Some of the longer-standing members have even been coming to be board for much longer than most of the EMS "regs".

Recently, tree symbols have been used frequently by this group. It's the result of an inside joke. It gets called a "goth tree." And, no, they don't hate for anyone else to use the symbol. If someone says something about someone outside the group using the "goth tree," they are most likely joking around. Another thing this group has been recently known for is the "Gawfic Camel Club,"
started by Josh. Most are also members of guild "Goth Underground."

....And 'Raito Yagami' is a douchebag :)

gothic emo

This is a term used by Top-40 pop kids who talk like preps, act like preps, and listen to a lot of prep music, even though they spend a lot of their time crying and writing the most irritating poetry ever while listening to music that can be found on Disney Radio. Hot Topic caters to the fuckheads who use this term first and foremost. By the way, Hot Topic is owned by Disney. What a coincidence.

Crystal casually said, "Well, I'm a Gothic emo and I love darkness and freaks." She is now a married Christian mom only a year later, and probably still listens to A Simple Plan and Disturbed. She probably still talks like a Valley Girl: "Omigod, I love cute little kitty cats, like, omigod!"

Gothster

Meaning: A Goth Gangster

Basically looks like a hard core Goth but has a tendency to act a bit Gangster, it would be wise to stay clear of a Gothster, if you think Gangsters are badass then you've never met a Gothster!

Gothic

1) A style of architecture in the 20th century.

2) A tribe, also called Gaul’s, who sacked the Roman Empire, causing the dark ages and medieval times.

2) A subculture who likes the darker side of things, but not really evil. Gothic music has many different genres, there is screamo and death metal sounding gothic music, there's peaceful gothic music, there is a mix of classical instruments and modern rock instruments, and much more. Classic gothic clothing is usually chains and black clothes.

Goths are stereotyped to only wear black, but that is not true. Usually a gothic person likes more than black, like gray, red, blue, or purple for example.

Stereotypes:

All Goths only like black.
All Goths are satanic.
All Goths are evil.
All Goths are miserable.
All Goths like blood.
All Goths like vampires.
Goths never laugh.
Goths cut themselves.
Goths are depressed.
Goths are ignorant teenagers who just want attention.

These are the truths:

Goths who shop at Hot Topic or other stores like that are posers, see Mall Goth.
Goths are usually nice and happy, but not all the time. Some of them just have a darker character, which doesn't make them evil.
Goths are usually peaceful; they almost never settle things by fighting.
Goths do not cut themselves. See emotionally distressed. (NOTE: Emos do not cut themselves either, but emotionally distressed people do.)
Not all Goths view Marilyn Manson, as the 'King of Goth.' Marilyn Manson is not Gothic, he is just a crazy guy who sings metal. He is one of the people who gives Goths a bad name.
Goths are random individuals who happen to like the same things.

Hey did you see that guy sitting outside of Hot Topic? He was all like, 'I'm so Gothic, because just look at me! I have pants with chains on them!' He was such a mall Goth.

"Goths" are generally people who conform to a wide range of black-centric fashion conventions, and listen to dark styles of music. It's a terribly ambiguous label that applies to an immense amount of people. The label is inherently invalid, and is almost always pejoratively/humorously used these days, except by teenagers describing themselves. This usage is dying quickly. Teenagers are no longer interested in the "Gothic" subculture. At one point, there was a clear definition of who you can or can't label as Goths - it meant people who dressed in black, often dyed their hair black or some bright color, and listened to certain kinds of music. There's no longer a clear definition. Goths traditionally are considered to have a nihilistic outlook on life. In my experience, the people labelled as "Goths" are generally more intellectual, and more down-to-earth than most people. Also, in my experience, they're also often frighteningly normal, in the areas where it counts, by comparison to most people who dress normally and listen to pop music. When I was 17, i'd have proudly declared myself a Goth, but now, i'm 22, and with time i've found that there's significantly more to me. I dress how I feel at any given moment, I still dye my hair black. My shoes are combat boots, though i've never been in the military. I listen to Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, etc. I'm a socialist. I'm a nihilist in the philosophical/existential sense. The label is easily applied to me. But, one of the greatest characteristics of people labelled as "Goths" is that we generally don't like to use the term for ourselves. These days i'd take it as a pejorative term. Often confused with the equally ambiguous/pointless term "Emo".

"Goth" 1: I like to read Nietzsche, and listen to Nine Inch Nails, and wear lots of black, simplistic clothing. My hair is nothing special, and I wear black makeup.

"Goth" 2: I like to wear flowing dresses, and often I listen to Switchblade Symphony, Rasputina, and occasionally am known to listen to something entirely out of character like the backstreet boys.

"Goth" 3: I just wear whatever I want, often it's black, sometimes there's metal in it. I listen to a wide variety of music, because I like it. Just because I listen to Manson, does not mean i'm as single-minded as he is. I also have great respect for classic rock.

"Goth" 4: liek OMG i went to hot topic and bought this uber my chemical romance shirt, and some pink bondage pants! i like to wear candy bracelets and dye my hair blonde and pink, but i pretend to have some sort of "dark" attitude, and have some intelligence and depth
