Iraquagmire is a combination of Iraq and Quagmire. The words are joined together to characterized the war in Iraq/Operation Iraqi Freedom due to a belief in a small hope of victory, poorly-defined objectives "Staying the course" (which the course is to where exactly?) and/or no clear exit strategy.
