The term used to describe the act of an unoriginal British band stealing melodies from underground indie bands.

The lead singer of the band traveled to the music festival and went to great lengths to coldplagiarize the melody from the little Brooklyn indie band.

Coldplagiarism

The act of stealing a song from a guitar god, and not giving him any credit for it. Usually ends in a lawsuit after the plagiarist ignores months of repeated attempts by the original songwriter to resolve the issue out of court. Coldplagiarism is commited by over-rated douchebag musicians who are not talented enough to write a decent song of their own. Typically the stolen song will be renamed after a Spanish painting, the guitar chords are usually replaced with a crappy synthesized version, and the guitar melody is replaced with whiny vocals sung by a talentless hack.

Whether or not the courts decide to crack down on the growing problem of coldplagiarism remains to be seen.

As in:
"A cold play of the early recordings of Daft Punk, then Baby Geniuses and Paula Abdul."

Sam just got insert here yesterday and tried playing it/singing it/ burping the syllables through a straw/digitally remastering and re-releasing it backwards.

Coldplayer

Taken from the name of the band...meaning someone who is very boring, bland, uninteresting, unexciting, whiney and unimaginative, but whom everyone seems to like on the surface as it would be uncool not to like him.

Following the coldplayers like stupid herds of sheep cuz everyone else seems to be doing/liking something.
