Visible Sciences

The study of phenomena that can be directly observed with the naked eye or ordinary instruments—the sciences of the manifest world. Visible sciences include classical physics (falling apples, rolling balls), macroscopic biology (plants growing, animals moving), and most of chemistry as practiced in high school labs (color changes, precipitates, exciting explosions). These sciences are accessible, intuitive, and form the foundation of our understanding of reality. They're also increasingly a small slice of what science actually studies—most of reality is invisible, and visible sciences now serve mainly as entry points to deeper, less visible truths. Visible sciences are what your grandmother thinks science is; invisible sciences are what scientists actually do.

Example: "He loved visible sciences because he could see what was happening—balls rolling down inclined planes, chemicals changing color, plants growing toward light. When he got to quantum mechanics, he struggled because nothing was visible anymore. He missed the simple days when science looked like science."

Vista Chase

The act of chasing (to hurriedly or quickly pursue) a vista (a pleasing view). Usually accomplished via car or by foot, and inclusive of majority locations that aren't well known or documented.

A group of friends piled into a car to depart on a Vista Chase.

They had arrived at the trail head and were ready to begin the vista chase.

visician

A visician is someone who loves watching a musician perform but isn’t particularly interested in the music itself. They’re all about the visuals—stage lights, choreography, pyrotechnics, or just vibing with the aesthetic of the performance. The word is a blend of vision and musician, perfectly describing fans who are more into the sight than the sound.

"I didn’t even notice what song they were playing—I’m such a visician, I was too busy filming the laser show."

"She’s not here for the band; she’s a total visician. She just wants to see the confetti cannons and costume changes."

Visible minority

A somewhat contradictory and ironic term that Canadian bureaucrats love to use. Likely stems from the fact that Canada wants to be seen as "multicultural" and championing social justice values, but at the same time you have to be seriously joking to think that labelling people as a "visible minority" makes people feel included. If anything it has the exact opposite effect, like who tf wants to be labelled a minority? Incredibly idiotic term that only serves the benefit of bureaucrats.

Bureaucrat: Are you a visible minority?
Person 1: Visible minority? *chuckles baffledly* Who thought this term was a good idea?

Bureaucrat: I don't know I'm jus—
Person 1: Global majority would've been much more apt, because most humans aren’t white. But no, you bureaucrats cling to this clunky term, patting yourselves on the back for “diversity” while reinforcing the very divides they claim to bridge.
