Japanese's short term for "animation". Widely popular in the world. They have big eyes, pointy chin, and cool hair. Age ranges varies from All Ages (Hana no Ko LunLun, GeGeGe no Kitarou) to ages 8 and up (Yu-gi-oh, Dragonball), to Teens (Evangelion, Gundam), to Mature Audiences (Gungrave, Cutey Honey (1994 Version)).

"Anime" is a Japanese style of cartoons and animations made in Japan and Japan only. Any animating of the same style in different countries is not anime.

In Japan, anime is also associated with manga.

Many manga have been remade in the anime form, such as Bleach, Attack On Titan and One Piece, just to name a few.
Many people are huge fans of anime. Most of these fans like to call themselves an otaku.
Just like the word money, anime has no plural with an 's'.

A 'weeaboo' is a negative term that is also associated with anime and the Japanese fandom.

Many close minded people think anime is either something for kids only or for perverted horny people who masturbate to it. Which is obviously not true.
Only about 80 to 90% of anime/manga is perverted. And about 30-40% is for younger audiences.
Hentai, or ecchi are two types of perverted anime along with harem.

Guy: "Anime is kind of boring...."

Girl 1 and 2: *they yell* "ANIME IS AWESOME, YOU %$@!^"
Guy: "Okay, okay! Jeez. It's just anime."

Forced Animation

1. A massive quality spike in animation that is well-received amongst the majority.
2. When good animation is called bad because it's good and not terrible or a still frame slideshow.

Both definitions are typically used by the vocal minority, people with bad eyesight, boomers, haters, or contrarians on imageboards.

Guy 1: Did you see episode 19 of Demon Slayer?
Guy 2: Yeah, it sucked. So much forced animation everywhere.
Guy 1: Are you saying it looked bad? The animation was great.

Anime

The word "anime" is the Japanese word for "animation" or "cartoons," adapted from the English word "animation." In Japan, the word is used to refer to any cartoon or animation, whether it be from Japan or another country. But ever since Japanese animation became widespread throughout the world, the word "anime" has developed a different meaning in other countries. In America and most other non-Japanese countries, "anime" is used to refer to any form of animation exclusively from Japan such as animated TV shows and animated movies. However, unlike America's attitude towards animation - that it's only for children with the exception of a few adult comedies - the Japanese consider animation to be an acceptable form of entertainment and storytelling for all kinds of people. Thus, anime is aimed at a variety of audiences and is enjoyed by Japanese, as well as American fans, of all ages and tastes.

All the Japanophiles/Weeaboos love anime.
