This is a way of responding to, "are you okay?/do you feel sick?" Just go, "eh, I'll live/live it up/live it off." Because in all honesty, if you're sick, we are never okay. Yet we always say we are but oh well,

A polite way for parents to tell their child "No" to something.
Oftentimes this gives the kid false hope that the parent has a chance of saying "yes".
