Different than normal hipsters, these people - usually teenagers or young adults - have interests that are foreign to their generation.

While their interests may not be the typical definition of "underground," they will seem that way to their peers. Such interests can include music, art, politics, and ways of thinking.

Average Teenager: Hey, what are you listening to?
Generational Hipster: Oh, you know, Bob Dylan, The Velvet Underground.
Teenager: .......who?

Hipster lesbians are girls that identify as lesbians, because being straight is 'too mainstream.' These girls are usually heterosexual, but act as lesbians for attention (mostly from men) or to stand out from the crowd.

Two girls kiss next to a few guys in public.

Guy 1: "Are you guys lesbians?"
Girl 1: "Totally."
Girl 2: "Being straight is so what everyone else does."
Girl 1: "Yeah, it's so mainstream."

The girls walk away.

Guy 1: "Dude, they were weird!"
