Escape Velocity

Escape Velocity in science is a theory about gravity and picking up enough speed to escape the Earth's atmosphere.

In philosophy it's that moment in your life when enough things are going right that you can finally break free from your chains.

A velociraptor-pterodactyl hybrid. Animal has the ability to run extremely fast, strike fiercely, and take flight. It's shriek can be heard for a circumference up to sixty square miles. Extremely intelligent and dangerous. Approach with caution.

velocitate

A verb meaning to become "speed blind". After travelling at what initially feels like high speed for a while (typically in a car), your brain become accustomed to how fast everything rushes past, so that it no longer looks fast. This leads you to subconciously underestimate your speed. When you slow down to "normal" speed, it feels like you're barely moving.

I was in a rush to get home last night, and I velocitated so bad I almost crashed on the exit ramp.

Throwing up in a sink while taking a huge dump in the toilet at the same time. Only possible when the sink and toilet are in close proximity to one another. The positioning of the body is similar to the dinosaur of the same name.

Chris was extremely hung over on the flight home from Miami, so he ran to the bathroom and clogged the sink and the toilet, velociraptor style.

A pseudo-science term for something going at a crazy fast speed. A combination of velocity and attitude that allows you to describe the ridiculous speed of planes or spaceships. A possible Bushism.

The rocket ship was climbing at an incredible velocitude. It appeared to be just a blur and a streak.
