Gothic Metal

A sub-genre of metal music which employs melodic, slow electric guitars and often classical instruments with operatic and growled vocals. Gothic metal has no direct connection with the gothic sub-culture instead that many people with dark aesthetics tend to like it. Lyrical themes include Darkness, depression, dark fantasies, dark aspects of love, isolation, medieval themes. Gothic metal is mostly ruined by posers who think that bands like nightwish, within temptation, cradle of filth and every god damn female fronted band is goth metal.
'True' Gothic metal bands are not some posers with dark clothes and eyeliner pretending to be goths, like any other sub genre of music gothic metal also has its own atmosphere and appearance like black metal with corpse paint etc. Gothic metal musicians are not pretending to be goths when they wear black, they are just creating an atmosphere.
It is widely hated and ignored by old school goths mainly for being called "Goth" metal and they will never give it a chance to know that it actually has the dominant lyrical themes of gothic fiction and poetry.

Summary:
· Female-fronted metal bands are not (all) Gothic Metal
· Symphonic Metal is not Gothic Metal
· Epic/Atmospheric Metal is not Gothic Metal
· Gothic Rock is not Gothic Metal
· Depressive/Suicidal Rock/Metal is not (necessarily) Gothic Metal

Glam Metal

A great genre of metal.

Doesn't matter how many people discard it at not metal, it truly is apart of metal history.

If anything, Nu-metal should be getting the criticism, this is how i see it.

Nu-metal is alienated from metal, musically, because it is based on alien musical influences, namely rap. Glam metal may have been "watered down" for commercial consumption, but it never pretended to fuse metal with anything. To change a Poison song into something that would be universally regarded as traditional heavy metal you need only speed it up, thicken the guitars, change the vocals and tweak the rhythms and such. To change a Korn song into traditional heavy metal you have to completely deconstruct it, and remove something fundamental to it--namely, the rap elements. There is thus a great musical difference between glam metal and Nu-metal.

So, For those who don't agree that glam metal is metal and prefer to call it rock music, I would suggest you are attempting to re-write history. Calling bands from this genre un-metal or unworthy would ruffle many feathers of longtime fans of metal that know glam metal does have it's place in metal.

ricer metal

The style of music that is enjoyed by ricers. Just as ricers have slow, purely aesthetic cars, ricer metal, i.e. mallcore or nu - metal is equally lacking in substance, uniqueness, and talent. One should not be surprised that an individual with such a laughable car would listen to such an abomination of metal.
Hahaha, that ricer is blasting ricer metal, and it's barely audible over his 5" fart can muffler!

euro metal

A form of heavy metal that evolved in continental europe (especially in Germany and Scandinavia) in parallel with and influenced by NWOBHM. Early members of the Euro metal movement were bands like Golden Earing (NL), The Scorpions (D), Jane (D) and Trust (F), but by the mid 1980's had evolved into a distinct brand of thrash metal.
Mercyful Fate (Den), Helloween (D), The Destroyers (Pol), Baron Rojo (Esp) and Bathory (Nor) are all good exapmles of how Euro metal evolved.
