A lemon is a joke that is squeezed dry, usually a one-time joke but is occasionally mentioned again. These jokes have every last droplet of humour squeezed out of them.

Gus Grissom hung a coat hanger with a lemon on the LEM (the Lunar Excursion Module or Apollo Lunar Module) signifying it wasn't going to work. A lemon is something that is crappy or not very good at its designated function. Upon close inspection of the LEM in Apollo photos one can see it is covered in black construction paper and gold tinted cellophane. The design and engineering document for the LEM was only 110 pages long. Projects of similar budgets to the LEM had an average of 50,000 pages. It would never have functioned as a real Lunar module.

Even a leaf blower would make a bigger blast crater then the LEMon.
