oracle book

When a question cannot be answered by conventional logic, one can refer to the oracle book. You do this by posing the question to a book of your choice, flipping to a random page and reading the first sentence that catches your eye. The oracle's answers may be difficult to interpret at first, but they will come to make sense as more time is allowed to pass. The oracle book is never wrong.

The use of an online social networking site where one may post insulting, critical or rude comments about someone on their friend list, with the passive-aggressive hope that the intended target will read their wall, and know it is about them. This strategy is a substitute for confronting the individual in person.

This expression can be used in reference to quickly explaining an idea, motive or action to make a very firm point. It's a way of saying that something is certain and will happen no matter what. The use of the word 'book' is synonyms with 'print.' Once something is printed (i.e. newspaper, novel), it is permanent.
