Coming from the eminem song "stan" from 1999, the word stan was created to mean "stalker fan" or "obsessed fan" but now a days stans are people that finds comfort in a content creator (actor, singer, youtuber, streamer, etc)
They can usually be found in twitter under content creators replies.
