Top of the Hill

This is the day which immediately precedes a person's 40th birthday. This is the height of a person's life experience as they will be over the hill the next day when they turn 40 years old.

It is typically celebrated with songs celebrating hills and tops and is one last burst of color before the traditional all black attire for the over the hill observance.

A person's Top of the Hill day supersedes any other person's actual birthday in order of importance and should be the larger of the two celebrations as this day happens only once in a lifetime.

Sarah: "I hear you're going to be over the hill tomorrow!"
Katie: "Yes, but today I'm at the top of the hill!"

Ralph: "Happy top of the hill day! Enjoy it, it's all downhill starting tomorrow when you turn 40!"

Monique: "Did you hear today is Chris's Top of the Hill day!? there's a HUGE Party in the breakroom!"
Erin: "ya.. .but today is my actual birthday"
Monique: "Don't be selfish! You know Top of the Hill days are more important than regular old birthdays!"
Erin: "oh."
