There are also several parks in this area, such as Chapin Park and Broadway Park. Several schools are also in this area, such as William Cohen School (part of the Bangor School Department).
Fairmount is another residential area located near downtown. It is located across the Kenduskeag Stream, and not only contains numerous houses, but also numerous businesses and schools. Schools in this area include the titular Fairmount School, and parks include Hayford Park and Coe Park. The shopping plaza "Third and Union" is also located here, near the junction of Union, Hammond and 3rd streets.
