cheerleader

a most likely pretty, popular girl in middle school or high school. shes probably going to be preppy and always say like. But besides that shes really into spirit and cheerleading on the sidelines at basketball, or football games.she may be dumb... she may be smart. she may be blonde... she may be brunette. but shes going to keep up with latest fads. FOR SURE!

cheerleading is a sport. i am not going to brag or rant, but cheerleaders have to throw people into the air, and catch them while smiling. do not tell me cheerleading is not a sport until you have done it please. just because we arnt scoring with a ball dosnt mean its not a sport. Not all cheerleaders are blonde dumb bitchy white girls. We are diverse, friendly, smart (as anyone else) we look out for each other when now one else will. We dont lose our virginity to jocks! none of the cheerleaders at my school are dating a football player! it is all just a stereotype. We are people who have feelings and when you make fun of cheerleading and such it hurts us :'( we are just people trying to enjoy our favorite sport like everybody else, but for some reason, everyone hates cheerleaders. We have to live on different standards than everyone else. Please understand us. Thank you <3
I love being a cheerleader, you get to meet some really great people.

OK, i cannot belive ppl can judge us like this. satistics show that cheerleaders are less likely to become involved with sex, drugs, alcohol, and illegal activities, than the average teen. This is mainly because cheerleaders are constantly being judged by ppl like sum of the ppl that have posted entries abt this. cheerleading builds confidence and increases athletic ability. AN IT IS A SPORT! he-llo. you would only be able to tell that, of course, if you were actually UP THERE WITH ALL EYES ON YOU AND EVERYONE WATCHING FOR THE "PERFECT" CHEERLEADER TO MAKE A MISTAKE. IT IS HARD WORK! we work for hours during the school year and also the summer for these ppl, and all they can focus on is pointing out our faults. we're not perfect, we're athletes, and we deserve to treated like them.

cheerleader

Stereotyped as a preppy, dumb, blonde slut who show alot of skin.
Let's get this straight: Cheerleaders are not dumb. I am a cheerleader and in fact have a GPA of 3.6 and if you have lower than a B- you're dropped from the squad. you have to work hard. 2nd, our team consists of every race and only 2 blondes. We all come from diffent backgrounds and were all different. We're also not sluts. (okay so there are 2, but they were sluts before they became cheerleaders) and by the way, its pretty hard to jump in the air and do flips and kicks in baggy pants without hurting outselves. and finally, being preppy... the point of cheerleaders is to cheer on their team with spirit.
GOOD EXAMPLE OF A CHEERLEADER
"we're gonna win!"
"Yeah! Go team!"

BAD EXAMPLE
"we're gonna win!"
"Yeah. whatever."

There are two types of cheerleaders
Type A: These girls (or guys I suppose) are very talented. They've most likely been doing gymnastics for a long time. They're extremley flexible, they can do flips and whatnot, and they're fun to watch. They deserve credit for pleasing the crowd. Unfortunatly, type A cheerleaders are brought down by...

Type B: These girls make the team when there are not enough talented girls interested to make up a whole squad. They are either preps who want to be "cute" in the little skirts, wannabes who think they'll become popular, or in some cases average girls who just dont have the talent for it. They are usually placed in the back where they cant be seen as well, they dont do anything impressive, and basically bring the team down.

Cheerleaders seem to be very defensive of cheerleading being a sport (as you can tell from this page). I could argue it either way. I'd consider it more of a performance but good cheerleading does involve gymnastics so I have to give them that.
They (being some who have written on here) also seem to have this idea that anyone who bad mouths cheerleading didnt make the squad or is jealous and couldnt do half the stuff a cheerleader could. These girls need to realize something, Everyone is NOT jealous of you. Thats exactly where the bad stereotypes come from so if you want them to stop, stop being so self centered. As for the not being able to do half the stuff a cheerleader can do, I'm a dancer and I can do half the stuff cheerleaders can do. And if someone couldn't do that stuff, SO WHAT. It doesnt mean they have to like cheerleading
girl: Whats your new routine like?
Type A cheerleader: Its really cool. I do lots of flips

girl: so what do you do in the routine?
Type B cheerleader: I, like, cheer duh! oh and I, like, try to do a toe touch but I cant get my legs past a 90 degree angle. That doesnt matter since I'm in the back and hopefully no one will notice me
