Adding names of people with increasing levels of power in an organization to the CC line on an email on each reply, thereby upping the “ante” of the email’s audience. This generally results in an email that should only be between 2 or 3 people having a CC line with 20 names on it and 87 replies.

It originated on a bulletin board called "toys in the attic" when a poster called "Coach" who is prone to exageration would claim "I have recieved not one, not two, but nine, repeat nine, emails" whenever he wanted to make people think he had alot of support for his bullshit opinions. From there it became the standard joke when someone would whine to the webmaster about some bullshit.
