It asks: Why and how does the objective, electrical and chemical sausage-making of the brain produce subjective experience—the redness of red, the pain of a stubbed toe, the feeling of being you? Meta-Consciousness

Consciousness reflecting back upon itself. It's not just being aware of the color blue; it's being aware that you are aware of the color blue. It's the self-referential loop that creates the sense of a persistent "I" having experiences. This is the bedrock of introspection, identity, and existential dread. Some philosophies and meditation practices aim to transcend it, but for most of us, it's the voice in our head that never shuts up, commenting on everything, including its own commentary.

Quantum Consciousness

The controversial and unproven hypothesis that classical physics cannot explain consciousness, and that quantum mechanical processes within neurons (e.g., in microtubules) are the source of subjective experience. Proponents argue this could explain the non-algorithmic nature of thought and free will. Critics dismiss it as wishful thinking. More philosophically, it can refer to the idea that consciousness itself has quantum-like properties: being both particulate and wavelike, being changed by observation, and existing in a potential state until collapsed by interaction.

Relativistic Consciousness

The hypothetical state of subjective experience for an entity that exists or perceives across significant gradients of spacetime. A formalized approach to the above, often using frameworks like Integrated Information Theory (IIT) to theoretically measure the level of consciousness (Φ or "phi") in any dynamic system.
