pulled a Hancock

This phrase originated when my daughter an I saw the movie Hancock starring Will Smith. The movie is progressing nicely, and inspiring great laughs, when all-of-a-sudden like, the movie goes sideways and there's Egyptian gods and dichotomous entities and other crazy crap.

Thus was coined, the phrase, "...pulled a Hancock"

Which essentially means that everything was great until the writers and/or directors went bat-crap-crazy and sent the story sideways into ludicrous land.

The point in the movie Hancock when Charlize Theron is suddenly some kind of Egyptian god bound to Hancock - this is the point when the story "pulled a Hancock" - and sends him flying out the house (flying as in flung, not of his own volition).

Pulling a Fletcher

Faking an injury in order to not be bested by someone younger and more skilled than you. This is the most shameful way of faking an injury and is practiced routinely by PolySci majors who run Cross-Country.

Ryan: Oh my God I think I broke my ankle!
Cody: Are you sure you're not just "Pulling a Fletcher" so that you don't look bad when you lose the race?
Ryan: Of course not! Look, you can see the bone!

pulling an Egypt

A phrase used to describe when someone claims their internet, phone, and/or TV is down and is therefore exempt from the associated responsibilities. Used in reference to the fact that no one in Egypt can access the internet, use cell phones, etc.

Teacher: Your homework is posted on my website.
Student 1: Oh, I won't be able to do it. My internet is down.
Student 2: Hey, he's pulling an Egypt.

Guy: Dude, why haven't you called or texted me?
Girl: Hey my phone service is down.
Guy: You're lyin'. Stop pulling an Egypt.
