Working backwards in logic, disregarding the facts in order to support an erroneous conclusion. Motivated reasoning is in contrast to logical reasoning.

I know you're telling me the fact that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11, but my motivated reasoning tells me he did.

We invaded Iraq because of 9/11. What we did in Iraq was right. Saddam Hussein was involved in plotting 9/11.

motivation check

A chant used in many military branches to augment the "motivation," or spirit of a particular unit. Used notably in many JROTC groups during roll call @ drill meets, athletic tournaments, etc., such a ubiquitous pattern of speech invokes an instinctive human aggression in said unit.

The motivation check, though at times may appear facetious, panders to our need for something funny to say, but in reality allows us to lose our individuality to achieve a collective identity.

"(insert unit here), MOTIVATION CHECK!"

whack-a-molin'

When you have really got to take a shit, and every time it starts peeking out, you have to scrunch up your butt-cheeks and push it back in. So your ass resembles a whack-a-mole game with only one mole (built for the special kids with really bad reflexes).

Dude, I was whack-a-molin' so bad last night I thought I was going to have a Vasovagal episode! I was lucky the Browns even made it to the Superbowl.
