To put it in another way : MTV Junior.

A TV channel that's mainly aimed towards children and teens that launched in 1979. It has different programming blocks, such as Nick Jr., Nick at Nite and Snick/TEENick.
I've seen other definitions of Nickelodeon on here, but all people seem to do is bash it and say stuff like "Nickeldeon sucks now!". Well, I'm not going to bash it here. It just seems that so many people jump on the "Nickelodeon sucks now!" bandwagon. I had no idea that the newer Nickelodeon was so hated until I started looking up Nickelodeon on the Internet. I mean, while I agree that the older Nickelodeon is better overall, there's still some good shows on there, such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Fairly OddParents and even Catscratch!
Seriously, you guys probably just bash the newer Nickelodeon because you just grew up and grew out of Nickelodeon. It's really stupid how you guys say stuff like "Only stupid kids watch Nickelodeon now."! The kids who are growing with Nickelodeon now will probably say the same thing about how Nickelodeon sucks now when they get older.
Now, I know how some of you guys grew up with shows like Kenan and Kel, Doug, Salute Your Shorts, Rocko's Modern Life, All That, Hey Arnold and Clarissa Explains It All. Take a show like Kenan and Kel or Rocko's Modern Life, for example. If those two shows wouldn't premiere until this year, 2008, I can bet that most of you guys would probably be bashing them. And if shows like Catscratch, Zoey 101, The Mighty B and even The Naked Brothers Band and Mr. Meaty would premiere in 1995 or something, I can bet they would be recieving much more praise now! So, please, think about that before you say stupid things like "Today's Nickelodeon are making kids stupid" or "I can't let my kids watch the crap they put on Nickelodeon today".
Personally, I'm 21 years old and while I don't watch Nickelodeon nearly as much as I used to when I was younger, I still like a few shows that's on there now, like SpongeBob SquarePants, Fairly OddParents and Catscratch, as I mentioned earlier.

A suckish channel for children who never saw real TV. In the 80's and 90's, it consisted of outstanding and loved shows such as "Hey Dude", "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?", "Hey Arnold", "All That", "Kenan and Kel" and "Clarissa Explains it All" just to name a FEW. Today, they've created the shows that make us all puke such as "iCarly", "Big Time Rush", and "Spongebob Squarepants". They cancelled all TV shows that all the kids watched. Nick-Toons was the original old-school channel for Nickelodeon used for Teenage Robot and other old stuff. Today, it is puke-worthy "Dragon Ball" and "Avatar" and fukin sponsored show "Z Force" or whatever it's called. Recently this mindless channel made Teen Nick channel have old shows at midnight until 4 every night. As much as I appreciate it, it doesn't do good because I DON'T ENJOY GETTING NO SLEEP. There is also Nick Jr. which is sad because the shows are like "Bubble Guppies" and "Dora" come on I'm looking for like, Blue's clues or something! As you can see, Nickelodeon is a channel for people who suck and are under like 12 years old, never experiencing 90's nick. Know something? I'ma age 11 and well, I miss it too. I know ALL the shows, SAW THEM ALL as they always repeated in 2000-2001, and researched AND has a 17 year old sister, so I know 98% of what nick really was.

A dumbass channel aimed at suburban rich white protestant bush-supporting children. Only suburban and rich kids that are spoiled can ever get on air unless they give free trips for the "poor" children and then shows the poor children on the tv to humilate them.
Rocko's Modern Life was the shiz, as well as all of their other shows which showed alot of ooze and other sick stuff featuring a good variety of people. Now only white people are show on it unless it's some black person that is known to be "hip" and "ghetto" like.
