The Boat

Riker's Island, a New York City jail that is, conveniently, also an island in the Long Island Sound, is home to 14,000 inmates. Because the jail conditions are over-crowded and inmates are harshly treated by the Corrections Officers, many convicts who have been sent there liken it to a slave boat, once popular during the New World's robust slave trade.

The boat

Commonly a casino located in midwestern cities. Initially upon legalization, casinos were limited to riverboats. However, developers began building casinos right next to a riverfront, skirting any laws prohibiting them from doing business outside of a riverboat. The term boat just stuck with all the patrons and now its used fairly common.

1: "I'm so fucking pissed!"
2: "Why, what happened?"
1: "I ended up goin' to the boat last night and lost a grand!"
2: "You dipshit!"
