Let's make it a Blockbuster night

Typically used as an alternative for those of the older generation who are still stuck in 20th century, but still want to ask their partner to "Netflix and chill." Instead of committing to a $8.99 per month subscription for Netflix to have sexual relations with one's partner(s), by "making it a blockbuster night" they are only submitting a one time lesser payment for a movie. This movie will be an extremely boring one, but it serves simply to provide background noise while the 2 (or more) engage in sexual relations.

Old Partner 1: Hey girl(s), you sure turn me on. Netflix and chill?

Old Partner(s) 2: I'd/we'd love to, but $8.99 per month is too expensive. Let's make it a Blockbuster night!

Old Partner 1: Wow, what a great idea! That way, we don't have to adapt to today's standards of movie watching, and we don't have to pay $8.99 per month for a Netflix subscription!

**Proceeds to rent a boring movie from Blockbuster and retires to the host's house**

n. The act of taking one of your old, scratched up discs and replacing with a mint, clean Blockbuster DVD, or game, and returning the scratched disc.

Nick's little brother scratched up his Halo 2 disc, so he rented the game from Blockbuster and switched out the discs.

1 - "Man, my old Splinter Cell disc is too scratched to play on my Xbox."
2 - "Dude, just pull a blockbuster swap."
1 - "Good idea."

blockbuster switch off

Same as the blockbuster swap, the blockbuster switch off is when one becomes tired of their old DVD or game due to scratches or cracks. The basic idea is to rent the same DVD or game and return the older copy in the case. When replaced with a disc different than the one intended to be kept, this becomes a cluster fuck.

I'm getting tired of my PS2 not reading this disc, Sal. I think we're gonna need to pull a blockbuster switch off.

Blockbuster Syndrome

A disorder characterized by knowing what you want to rent from Blockbuster only when you are in no way planning to, or in no way able to, make a trip to Blockbuster.

Inversely, walking into Blockbuster only to realize that you have no idea what the hell to rent.

The general symptoms of Blockbuster Syndrome may also be seen pertaining to music, clothing stores, and virtually any other consumer outlet.

We walked the four blocks to the video store, only to realize all of us were suffering from a textbook case of Blockbuster Syndrome. It took us about 45 minutes to finally think of a movie to rent.

Summer Blockbuster

a movie released between about the middle of May through about the middle of August. These are usually big-budget movies, often sci-fi and action. Usually they are rated PG-13 so as not to be seen as childish but not to exclude the teenagers who are out of school and can't get into R-rated movies yet.

Jaws is often thought of as the first summer blockbuster.
