A term used to describe the appearance, conduct, & mental state of one who's very high on a stimulant (e.g., methamphetamine). It
may also be used to describe one who's withdrawing from a
drug.
One who's ickabooing is in an altered mental state resembling mild to severe psychosis & may exhibit paranoia; they can be animated, complacent, hyperreactive, withdrawn, & difficult to understand (i.e., ramble or mumble). They can misjudge or mishandle situations & discuss things that are not considered normal.
They can also exhibit abnormal or exaggerated body movements e.g., picking at their
skin, twitching their facial muscles, moving their extremities in a restless fashion, touching themselves in an abnormal way or inappropriate location, looking around & swiveling their head in a pronounced fashion, etc. A person who is ickabooing may also be diaphoretic (
sweaty) because they feel hot; they may have an oily or unclean appearance; they may have wounded, red, or irritated
skin from picking at themselves; lastly, they may have an unwell or unkempt appearance due to intoxication, euphoria, delirium, or withdrawal symptoms.
Ickabooing is NOT a derogatory term; it's a
slang term to describe a state or condition. Ickabooing is a result of drug abuse &
addiction;
harsh treatment or rushed judgements of people suffering from
addiction does not
help heal the damage drug abuse can cause. An environment of empathy, care, & healing is the only way to promote wellness.
