Cutting ties with your family of origin--the family with whom you grew up without having much of a choice. Often involves moving out without telling them (the family).

FOO = family of origin

When little girls (esp. those names Nicolette) are starving and are in dire need of food!
Instead of dehydrated, I’m defooded-drated. I need food!
Like being dehydrated, except for food instead of water.

Disengage Family Of Origin. An expression used by the podcast Freedomainradio that tries to make people cut "unbalanced" & "unhealthy" ties to their family and parents. By many considered a cult.
I deFOO'ed for a short while but quickly realised I didn't have a clue what my parents did for my sorry teenage ass.
